Runnymede Landlord Accreditation Scheme
This is a new initiative being developed by Runnymede Borough Council in partnership with Royal Holloway University of London. The scheme was launced in 2005 for properties in the Borough of Runnymede let to students attending Royal Holloway. Egham Lettings fully supports this initiative and has submitted applications for all of its houses.
The aim of the scheme is to:
- Improve property and management standards in student private rented accommodation in Runnymede
- To promote good tenant behaviour.
The council and the university have been working together to produce a 'code of practice' for landlords and managing agents that relate to the managment and maintenance of private rented property. This code will set out some minimum standards which landlords will need to comply with before their properties become accredited.
The code covers three main areas:
1. Landlords responsibilities at the beginning of tenancies
2. Minimum Property Requirements
3. Landlords responsibilities throughout the course of the tenancy
